There are old riders, there are bold riders, but there are no old, bold, riders.

Go for it! Having functioning limbs is overrated anyways.

If you’ve never rode before, you probably shouldn’t hop right on to a new R6 anyway.

Unless you want to be one of those people who tips it over in a parking lot with 13 miles on it and sells it back to the dealership with a few scuffs so one of us can pick it up on the cheap ;)

I still remember back in high school this douchey rich kid got a brand new Aprilia RS4 125 for his birthday and proceeded to drop it in front of the whole school because he was trying to show it off.

I’ve already had a similar experience on a much more expensive bike. >_<

My plan would be to get an R3, ride it for 1-2 years and then *maybe* upgrade to an R6.

I suppose I could be wrong, but I don’t think newer motorcycles matter as much as newer cars. They are all fast and handle better than nearly anyone who owns them is going to be capable of using. Unless you want it as a trophy for being good at life, older bikes are the way to go.

It looks bitchin and I’m sure its fast as hell, buuuuttt.....

I’m pretty firmly in the camp that any of the serious 600 or 1000cc supersport bikes are terrible bikes for regular riding unless you only hit the canyons or take it to the track. The ergonomics are optimized for riding fast. In town, around traffic, and for any ride longer than an hour they suck.

Don’t get me wrong, they’re tons of fun, but if I only had room for one bike it sure as shit aint gonna be a sport bike.

Sport-Nakeds are where its at. More comfy ergo’s that are great for short trips or commuting but still aggressive enough to hang with most sport bike riders on real roads.

Either way, Join us!!! bike are so much fun!!!

You could be right, except for reliability and safety things like ABS. Plus with a new bike you know what you’re getting. With an older bike you might not know how well it’s been kept.

I’m ok with not being a bold rider. I have a race car to get that out of my system.

Even the maintenance thing isn’t such a big deal on the older bikes since you can find really low mile examples. If they’ve been really abused, they’ll show it. But for the most part low mile bikes in great shape are so plentiful it’s easy to find ones in good shape. Especially if you’re already thinking in terms of new bike dollars. Things like ABS you might be more right... but honestly I’ve never had ABS and don’t feel like I’m missing out. Besides, ABS has been out for a good long time, if it’s important to you you can find it.

That white is awesome, but for 2k more I could get an 899......which is much more tempting. Though at this point, anything is an upgrade from my 2001 R6 (which is still carburated).

I like it. The exhaust is dumb looking though.

About time... the current one has been around for about 10 years without so much as a facelift.

I remember going into a dealership and asking the salesperson “what year is that R6? like 2005?”, “nope, it’s brand new”.

good plan. R3s seem pretty popular lately.
